Preparing A Tiger To Live In The Arizona Desert

The ones with the expensive blue anodized fittings on the end. The lines clamp onto the original blocking plate that the original filter used to attach to the side of the block. That way (in my mind) it wasn't a complete rip out of originality. Now there was a big gaping hole in front of the cylinder head on the driver side to accommodate the alternator. The Delco unit used a single pivot bolt (grade 8 bolt) which just happened to be the same thread as one of the existing tapped hole in the head. What luck! By cutting off about 1/4" off the rear of the alternator bracket, it brought the belt alignment into perfection. Next was the task of fabricating tensioning bracket to help stabilize the alternator. There was probably some already available at the junk yard, but I wanted to feel original. A piece of 1" x 1/8" bar stock and a little notching, bending and re-welding solved that issue. Cutting the slot into it for the adjustment was probably the hardest part of the job. That got the alternator sitting just where it needed to be and mechanically stable.
